Biography
Claire, the Stitch Shaman, holds a BA Hons (sculpture) from Falmouth University 1988.
She has used stitch work throughout her Art related career. Working in Oncology at RM Hospital, she
made two trees life, each leaf being stitched by a patient. 1993. Making costumes for Gegants (giants)
for Moomba parade 1997 with clients at St Mary’s House of Welcome. Having worked multiple projects
as community artist, with machine sewing, free motion machine embroidery and hand stitching. Her
practice has evolved, sculpting with stitched works
This current work showing is from a day at Macedon, 15 life models, 100 artists. Drawing straight onto the fabric.
