Bound by Thread brings together work by artists from the Naarm Textile Collective who are exploring the possibilities for thread in their work. The exhibition will be a presentation of contemporary textile art practices from local and regional Victorian artists. The artists represent a diverse range of practices, exploring new ways of working, bringing different cultural perspectives, and subverting the medium in exciting ways.
Thread practices are woven through cultures and generations, a creative process which provides both opportunities for social connection, and individual expression. From functional objects to aesthetic works to social projects to more political practices. Bound by Thread brings the meanings bound into these works and the ways in which objects can generate memory and identity.
Naarm Textile Collective will present an exhibition of works which will stimulate thought and conversation to make thread more visible in the world of fine art. We will transform the gallery into a lively, welcoming, dynamic and thought-provoking exhibition. A range of Sunday workshops and Saturday stitching sessions will be a feature throughout the exhibition.

Bound by Thread – Sit n Stitch Sessions
Come along to our Sit n Stitch sessions every Saturday from 1 – 5 pm.
We would love to see you there. Bring along your latest project, work with us and have a chat. Drop in for a short time or the full four hours – up to you. Sessions held March 14, 21, 28, April 11 and 18.
