CHRISTINA TURNER –

Christina Turner is a designer-maker with 25 years experience in weave design.
A former board member of the Meat Market Craft Centre, Christina is a trailblazer in her field. It was during training in Textile Design at Melbourne College of Textiles (on the back of an initial career in IT), that Christina was one of the first in Victoria to acquire a compu dobby loom. She subsequently taught fellow students and lectured in the use of what was leading edge technology at that time.
Christina is a dedicated member of the DIA and proactive contributor to the broader design community.
She co-founded PLUSH! in 1996 with Virginia Harrison – and has since been prolifically designing, weaving and producing – hand-woven fabrics, soft furnishings, fashion accessories and other articles. PLUSH! has retailed product through Craft Victoria and in select Melbourne and boutiques. Their work was represented at high profile textile gallery, Sturt Gallery in Mittagong NSW until its closure. Recent work has featured ideas collected from trips to Japan and Uzbeckistan. The acquisition of a modern handloom has enabled her to produce more intricate and imaginative works
PLUSH! Has regularly participated in exhibitions since 1999 to the present day..
